Joann

Supervisor SR, Manufacturing

At Panasonic since August 2014

I grew up in Southwest Georgia, in the city of Albany, and had a desire to work from a very young age.  I can remember being five years old and begging to go and help my cousins who were already working, but my Grandmother was quick to reject this plea due to my young age.  A few years later, I was able to get my first job, Babysitting, and was ecstatic to be able to help my family.  I’ve always enjoyed working hard and continued that passion throughout my life.  I even worked outside of our country, in Kuwait, when faced with the alternative of unemployment.  My personal hobbies also keep me very busy.  I love trying a new recipe or a relaxing day of fishing, but most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I also have become quiet the world traveler, visiting remote locations like Bahrain, Belgium, Japan, Kuwait, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

After Highschool and earning my Bachelor’s in Science from Albany State University, I became interested in pursuing a different profession in the Manufacturing Industry.  My professional journey has allowed me to work in Supervisor and Management roles for Fortune 500 companies like Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Kemet Electronics Corporation, and then Matsushita Ultra-Technology (MUTEC) which later became the current Panasonic Energy Corporation of America.

Panasonic is a family-oriented company that builds people before products.  This has a huge positive impact on the direct success of the employees, operations, and community that are a part of Panasonic.  The employees of Panasonic share their knowledge and skills to make sure that everyone plays an intricate role in meeting the needs of our customers.  This company also provides many opportunities for learning and training for all employees.  Over the years, I have received training internally and by visiting other cities and countries like Japan and Belgium.  Panasonic also helps employees with their personal development and growth by offering Educational Assistance.

This is my Panasonic story, and my experience and the rewards I’ve received, cannot be matched by others.
